Bad weather disrupts supply...

Please accept our appoligies for any disruption caused by the stock shortages this week, on the whole we have managed to keep them to a minimum, but the bad weather did stop most of the transport into the county and some of the highly perishable lines did run short.  We hope all our customers managed to cope with the difficult conditions and any unavoidable disruption to supply - thanks from all the team.

Product Info : 9 Carrot Goodness of Chantenay Carrot

29.01.2009

Product Info : 9 Carrot Goodness of Chantenay Carrot

A reasonably modern variety of carrot the "Chantenay" has proved to be ever increasing in popularity, our sales in particular more than doubled last year and we are expecting to increase again this year (09). As part of the promotional push, Freshgro (who grow 90% of the crop) is positioning Chantenay as having “nine-carat goodness” by communicating to consumers only the best Chantenay carrots with nine leaves are handpicked by British growers after being covered over with straw during production in the winter. It is anticipated this new approach will help to promote the care and attention to detail that goes into producing the distinctive carrot variety and emphasise its value for money.
Dr MacTavish-West, who has already carried out some of the research and will continue to work with Freshgro throughout the year on further analysis said: “I am excited to be helping Freshgro extol the huge health benefits of eating Chantenay to the wider general public…Just one 80g portion of Chantenay carrots supplies more than the RDA of vitamin A. Chantenay packs a powerful punch full of goodness including: six per cent of the RDA of vitamin E, eight per cent of the RDA of folic acid and are rich in minerals including: calcium, potassium, copper and magnesium.”
According to FPJ magazine a campaign to promote the product in womens magazines this April will help to raise awarness even further.
